An Om I Savvy is a series I created inspired by Polari, a slang or cant which was used largely by the gay community for safety when homosexuality was illegal, and even after, when it was heavily persecuted.

It follows the story of two men meeting in the park and recognising each other as queer men, through symbols of sexuality. I portrayed the use of Polari in the notebook, and then used a flower in a buttonhole to represent the green carnation a symbol of homosexuality often attributed to playwright and author Oscar Wilde. As a queer women I find the history of queer culture fascinating and try to portray a realistic experience of queerness before it was more widely accepted.
